A South African doctor,Dr Sonnette Ehlers, spent over 40 years developing the Rape-axe, a female condom that hooks itself to the skin of the attacker causing discomfort and allowing the victim to escape.Since the attacker will need medical attention, there is no way they can escape and justice will be served.
Dr Sonnette got her inspiration from one of the victims who said "If only I had teeth down there!!" From these words of a desperate woman,Dr Sonnette begun her journey and invented this indispensable device.
According to BBC World news, the doctor spent $135,000. She also sold her car and house to fund the project.
From this big-hearted ,doctor, we learn that Technology will be our big step to save our world from all sorts of miseries!
I thought this would be in a movie not in real life!Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteFace it girl, it is reality and it's happening in Africa. By the way, according to Human Rights Watch, South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape in the world. So people are forced to look for alternatives to survive this harsh environment!
