About me

Family and friends call me Jay and I hate it when people misspell my name and write "Jey" instead!
My real names are Jamila Abass Amin, born and raised in Wajir,Kenya. A city(keep your comments to yourself , because for me it's a city!) lost in the sea! Believe me, whether it is a myth or a fact, my people say that Wajir was once a sea!

I schooled in Wajir Township Primary school then joined Limuru Girls High School.Trust me,I don't know how I made to a high school with such an illustrious reputation but my teachers always said am a bright kid and I believe them!

I graduated from The Faculty of Sciences and Technology, AbdelMalek Essaadi’s University in Morocco with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering. I have lived and worked in the Kingdom of Morocco for 5 years. During my stay there ,I served as the Secretary General for The Anglophone Students Association in Morocco and founded a club called CALL(Club D'amateur des Logiciel Libre) a club that promotes the use of free and open source software.

I am a passionate and adept web and mobile applications developer . I worked with KEMRI(Kenya Medical Research Institute)/University of Washington as a Medical Records Systems developer.Am currently at the iHub as an intern and do freelance job as well.

Am an active and a core team member of the akirachix group: an IT forum for girls. Owner and co-founder of Creative Minds Solutions : an IT solutions company formed by Rose Karanja and myself.

When am not on my computer, coding, I train and provide mentorship for people who are new to the computer world. Do I charge? Of course not! Then how do I gain? Putting a smile on someone's face is enough for me!

"I love empowering people, especially women with my knowledge so as to unleash their potential and drive their growth in the IT industry."
